There are various opinions about the Why is India Called Bharat. For example

(A) The name of our country is derived from the name of King Bharata, the son of mythological sage, India.

(B) In the Vishnu Purana, it is said that the name of the country is Bharat Varsha, to the north of the ocean and south of the snow-covered mountains, that is to the south of the Himalayas, and the people of this country have been termed as 'BharatSanti'.

(C) According to Herodotus, the Greek author of the fifth century BC, India had the largest population. That is why the word Bharat is added to the name Bharat.

(D) According to the historian Dr Ramsharan Sharma, the name of an ancient tribe named Bharat has been named as India.

(E) The use of the word 'Bharadwas' can be seen in the Hathigumbha inscription of the Kalinga emperor Kharbel, and the name was known as Bharat Varsha in the Gupta period.

  
In ancient Persian script, 'seven-saint' is called haptic Hindu. Foreigners were called Hindus by people living along the Indus, and from that came the word Hindustan. The Greeks used to call Indus the word Indus, and from this Indus came the word INDIA.
